Position Title: Electric Motor Technician Position Summary: The Electric Motor Technician is responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, rewinding, and sales of electric motors and related equipment. This role ensures motors and generators operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards. The technician may work in a shop environment, field service settings, or both. Our objective for this position is to provide the employee with the opportunity to develop their skills and experience with the long-term goal of progressing into a General Manager role. Key Responsibilities: Diagnose and repair AC/DC electric motors, generators, pumps, and related electromechanical equipment Perform motor testing, including insulation resistance (megger testing), winding resistance, and vibration analysis Disassemble and reassemble electric motors and components for repair or overhaul Rewind motor stators, rotors, and armatures as required Replace bearings, seals, shafts, and other mechanical components Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals Balance rotating components and ensure proper alignment during reassembly Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on motors and equipment Document repair work, test results, and service reports accurately Operate shop equipment such as lathes, presses, grinders, and winding machines Ensure all work meets quality standards and manufacturer specifications Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and electrical safety protocols Qualifications & Skills: High school diploma or equivalent required Technical training in electrical, electromechanical systems, or related field preferred 1+ years of experience working with or around electric motors preferred Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical principles Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings Experience with motor testing and diagnostic tools (megger, multimeter, vibration equipment) Basic machining or fabrication skills preferred Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly Use hand and power tools safely and effectively Work Environment: Work is typically performed in our motor repair shop. Occasional field service work at customer sites may be required.
